Coffee Concert—Duo Ihana

Rie Tanaka, piano
Jesse Nummelin, cello

SPCM instructers Rie Tanaka, piano, and Jesse Nummelin, cello, perform a concert inspired by folk music, featuring composers all known for forging their cultural “folk” music into classical music.  The works of four composers from four different countries express four cultures through the same piano-cello ensemble.  This concert will offer a diverse and cross-cultural experience to the audience, and show how cultures, although different from one another, can speak to every one of us with a sense of belonging, comfort, and nostalgia.

All concerts are at noon and are FREE to the public and include coffee and bagels. After the performances there is an opportunity to meet and talk with the musicians.
