Chamber Music at the SPCM
The Saint Paul Conservatory of Music offers robust opportunities to learn and explore chamber music with world-class teachers and performers. Chamber music develops listening, rhythmic, interpretive, and communication skills while exposing students to amazing repertoire. Small groups offer musicians a social experience with high-level musical study and enhance their instrumental and orchestral capacity.
Groups
Saint Paul Conservatory of Music Chamber Music Groups
Students from a variety of backgrounds and levels can experience the joy of making music together throughout the school year. Receive coaching from SPCM faculty, collaborate with peers, and work on skills including listening, ensemble technique, and communication.
Pre-formed groups and individual musicians are welcome; the SPCM can help form groups.
Academy
Saint Paul Chamber Music Academy (SPCMA)
Led by Director Tom Rosenberg, the Academy offers advanced training in small ensemble skills throughout the school year. Opportunities include coaching, performances, competition preparation and support, and masterclasses with guest artists and Academy faculty.
Acceptance to the SPCMA is by audition only. Applicants must submit a performance video (3-5mins), and may be asked to attend an in-person audition.
Institute
Saint Paul Chamber Music Institute (SPCMI)
An immersive and exciting week-long program for college and pre-college strings players. World-renowned faculty coach Institute students, emphasizing interpretation, ensemble technique, listening, and audience communication. The Institute promotes citizenship and responsibility, encouraging positive group dynamics and collaborative problem solving.
