Coffee Concert—Duo Ihana

Featuring:

Rie Tanaka, piano
Jesse Nummelin, cello

SPCM instructors Rie Tanaka, piano, and Jesse Nummelin, cello, perform a concert inspired by folk music, featuring composers all known for forging their cultural “folk” music into classical music.  The works of four composers from four different countries express four cultures through the same piano-cello ensemble.  This concert will offer a diverse and cross-cultural experience to the audience, and show how cultures, although different from one another, can speak to every one of us with a sense of belonging, comfort, and nostalgia.

May we appreciate the difference among us, and also find similarity to bring us all together.
