We are thrilled to announce that violist James Dunham will be our 2020 Guest Artist. James was a member of the Grammy-winning Cleveland Quartet, founding violist of the Sequoia Quartet, and is currently violist in the Axelrod Quartet. He has performed with string quartets around the globe, and regularly presents master classes and serves on competition juries. He is currently Professor of Viola and co-director of the Master of Music in String Quartet program at Rice University and on the faculty of The Aspen School of Music.
As Guest Artist of the Saint Paul Chamber Music Institute, James will present a series of master classes, which will be open to the public, and appear in public performances with Institute faculty.
Among the faculty will once again be the dynamic and award-winning Jasper String Quartet. The Jaspers were a highlight of the 2019 Institute, not just for their incredible music-making and exceptional instruction, but also for the occasional Frisbee game!
