Featuring Phillip Rukavina and Thomas Walker, Jr., Renaissance lutes
Terzetti Lute Duo will play a program entitled “La spagna.” The lute duets and solos on this program were composed at the very flowering of the High Renaissance musical style. The program includes music by such musical luminaries as Francesco da Milano, Vincenzo Capirola, Francesco Spinacino, as well as music from Emmanuel Adriaenssen’s Pratum Musicum, which contains lute solos, and more importantly settings of madrigals for lute duo.
Make no mistake, this performance will not be a ponderous performance of simple plucks and plinks, but a virtuosic display of how this music really sounds: rich, full of flashy diminutions, and with the luscious sound of two incredible lutes and lute players. The Summit Center is just the right place to experience this kind of music – up close and personal in a delicious acoustic space.
Terzetti brings some of the best Renaissance lute music to the stage. Composed of two nationally recognized performers on the lute, Terzetti is Phillip Rukavina and Thomas Walker, Jr, who come together to bring rarely heard, virtuosic masterpieces of lute music to life.
Sponsored by SPCM, the New Lute Café usually takes place on the third Thursday of each month. Doors open at 7:00 and performances start at 7:30 pm. Performances last about an hour, sometimes a bit more.
There is no set charge for attending the performances, but a $15 per person donation is suggested to help defray costs and support our performers.
