Join us for the monthly New Lute Café Series, with Director Phil Rukavina.
Celebrate Valentine's Day this February as the New Lute Café presents “Fin’ Amor (Refined Love)” featuring the Ladyslipper Ensemble. The program includes delicious ensemble music and art songs by Jean-Baptiste Lully, Étienne Moulinié, Robert de Visée, Marin Marais, and others. This is music beautifully refined in a performance truly intended for the season of Love (with a capital “L”)!
The Ladyslipper Ensemble includes: Paul Berget (lute and viol), Mary Burke (viola da gamba), Julie Elhard (viola da gamba and lirone), Sahar Hassan (mezzo soprano), and Phillip Rukavina (lute and theorbo).
Ladyslipper Ensemble is a Twin Cities chamber music collective that brings the community something old and something new by presenting repertoire spanning from the 17th to the 21st centuries performed on instruments both early and modern. Dedicated to uncovering lost works and introducing audiences to rarely heard pieces, the ensemble invites its listeners to explore the unfamiliar and to create a deeper appreciation for the forgotten. By offering innovative, fresh and engaging programming, Ladyslipper brings soulful and beautiful themes to life. We strive to usher you beyond the realm of tradition and to break barriers between listeners and performers.
The Lute Café is sponsored by the St. Paul Conservatory of Music. Tickets are free, with a suggested donation of $15.
