Spring Appeal Letter

Happy spring from the Saint Paul Conservatory of Music! Springtime is a time of transition, growth and promise – words that also describe the SPCM this season.

Planting New Communities
Last fall we moved out of Summit Avenue and into four churches across Saint Paul, bringing music instruction and performances into new neighborhoods. Our Coffee Concerts brought live music to 8 new venues, doubling our audience size with first-time Coffee Concert attendees! New partnerships with senior housing facilities and community centers brought interactive concerts by talented SPCM faculty to more people than we've ever reached.

Growing More Students
From public school residencies to private training, we are reaching more students with top quality music instruction. Private and ensemble lessons grew 15% this year and our retention rate has never been higher. We partnered with five Title I schools in Saint Paul to bring no-cost instruction to over 300 students. And we awarded free private lessons to 9 Cléa Galhano scholars this year, selected in partnership with our school partners.

Artistry In Bloom
Our commitment to artistic excellence has never been stronger. We continued to partner with the Friends of the Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra on our Chamber Music Competition and awarded top prizes to talented student ensembles from across the region. Starting this year, our Chamber Music Institute students play together in an ensemble with members of the critically acclaimed Jasper String Quartet – an incredible opportunity for a young learner! We recently added phenomenal winds, brass and percussion faculty, and launched the first Suzuki brass program in the state.

As a friend of the SPCM, would you be willing to support our mission of Music For All with a gift to our Annual Fund? Your gift supports scholarships, brings live music to seniors, and puts instruments into the hands of public school students – often for the first time.

Thank you for your generosity. We look forward to seeing you at a concert or lesson soon!

P.S. Please be sure to make your gift today! All gifts received by June 30, 2023 will be counted towards our FY2023 Annual Fund goal, and help us close out our fiscal year strong. Your gift is so appreciated!
