Jake Meyer is the principal clarinetist of the Ocala Symphony Orchestra and is an active freelancer and teacher in the Twin Cities. Recently, he has performed with the Round Top Festival Orchestra and served as principal clarinetist of the Florida State University Symphony Orchestra and Wind Orchestra. He has also appeared as a soloist with the St. Olaf Orchestra on six occasions, performing the first movement of Mozart’s Clarinet Concerto and Debussy’s Première Rhapsodie.
As private instructor, Jake has worked with students of all ages and abilities. He served as a teaching assistant while studying at FSU, teaching private lessons to undergraduate music majors, coaching chamber music and teaching the clarinet methods course. He has also written a guide to inform musicians about health and wellness issues they face on a daily basis.
Jake holds his Bachelor’s of Music from St. Olaf College and his Master’s of Music from Florida State University. Away from the clarinet, Jake enjoys reading, swimming, exploring sustainable living, and getting involved in his local St. Paul community.
