Brendon Bushman
Oboe & English Horn
Brendon Bushman is an active freelance musician and teacher in the Twin Cities area. Brendon is on faculty at the College of Saint Benedict and Saint John’s University, The Saint Paul Conservatory of Music, and maintains studios in St. Cloud and St. Louis Park. In the summers Brendon serves on the faculty at International Music Camp (IMC) and performs with the Northern Lights Music Festival.
Having taught privately since 1999, his students have made district and state level honor bands in Georgia, Texas, and Minnesota, and found success in local youth orchestras and honor bands. His students have gone on to study music at colleges including The University of Minnesota, Florida State University, Arizona State University, and Louisiana State University. Brendon’s students range from age 9 to 75, and he caters his teaching to help each of his students discover and pursue their unique musical potential.
In addition to the SCSO, Brendon performs with groups across the Twin Cities and the midwest including the South Dakota Symphony Orchestra, Duluth Superior Symphony Orchestra, Journey North Opera Company, Minnesota Dance Theatre, and VocaleEssence. As part of the Bach Society of Minnesota’s “Mobile Mini-Concerts Series”, Brendon gave 60 solo performances across the Twin Cities and Greater Minnesota during the COVID-19 pandemic. An original member of the Atlanta Chamber Winds, Brendon can be heard on the 2009 Albany Records CD & digital release “Music from Paris.”
Mr. Bushman studied oboe performance and graphic design at Indiana University, Bloomington, and holds a Bachelor of Music in Oboe Performance from The University of Texas at Austin, and graduate studies at The University of Minnesota. When not making reeds, Brendon enjoys time with his family and their Akita-Shepherd Nori, exploring back roads and single track on his bike, hiking & camping, board games with his kids, and roasting/brewing great coffee.
