Featuring guest clinician Erin Wehr, presenting: “Stepping Into the Spotlight As Your Authentic Self: A Positive Psychology Approach to Finding Your Own Path”
Erin Wehr (Ph.D., MS, MMED, BM) is a music educator with a background in teaching college, community, and K-12 music programs including instrumental and general music, music technology, and music psychology. Erin serves the music education community as a guest conductor, clinician, presenter, and consultant for honor bands, festivals, workshops and conferences. In addition to directing school band programs and teaching music education in universities, Erin also directed the Iowa City New Horizons Band Program and started the Iowa Women’s Jazz Orchestra. Her research centers around managing social anxieties including helping girls to navigate jazz culture and most recently published a chapter titled “Playing the Part: A Social-Psychological Perspective on Being a Girl in Jazz” in The Routledge Companion to Jazz and Gender (2022, eds. Reddan, Herzig, & Kahr). As an International Coaching Federation certified professional coach, Erin utilizes her degrees in music performance, music education, and coaching psychology to coach individuals, ensembles, and organizations in employing concepts of positive psychology to enhance creative experiences through performance design. Erin is also a coach for musicians in the areas of performance anxiety, career navigation, and interpersonal dynamics.
