Craig Hill
Percussion
Craig Hill is a distinguished performer, educator, and composer with a focus on percussion. His diverse career includes national and international tours, highlighted by performances in the Broadway musical Swing! and premieres of the BBC Earth: In Concert productions. He was also a featured soloist in the 2013-14 Tokyo production of Kitchen Beat. Craig’s extensive touring experience includes collaborations with the GRAMMY Experience, Billboard Media Group, and numerous corporate Grand World Voyages.
Throughout his career, Craig has performed alongside an array of notable artists, including Wayne Newton, Melissa Manchester, Anthony Cox, Nestor Torres, George Lewis and Zeitgeist, Judy Carmichael, Sugar Blue, Roddie Romero, Joel Mason, Paul Baker, Ian Finkel, Jeff Trachta, and Lovena Fox.
Craig Hill Presents: is his own concert series that brings together musicians and interdisciplinary artists, focusing on new works and improvisation. This series also includes a solo performance art video project, which explores character-driven, first-take improvisations.
As a touring musician with the Dallas Brass, Craig combines chamber and orchestral repertoire with percussion improvisation and acting. These tours also feature percussion masterclasses and lectures on chamber music. Craig’s educational initiatives extend to community outreach, music appreciation, and improvisation, with a particular emphasis on private and ensemble instruction.
In his role as an assistant band director and percussion specialist, Craig taught at John Horn High School, Berry Middle School, and Terry Middle School in Dallas, Texas. He managed all aspects of percussion instruction and contributed to orchestral, wind, jazz, marching, choral, and new music programs.
Craig holds a Master of Music in Percussion Performance (2005) and a Bachelor of Music in Education (2003) from Youngstown State University. He is licensed to teach in Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Texas.
