St. Joseph’s School of Music-St. Paul Conservatory of Music offers a diverse set of classes each semester, including early childhood and family classes, choirs, and ensembles!
2025-26 Offerings for Children
Children’s Vocal Ensemble | for ages 5-11
Children’s Vocal Ensemble is an opportunity for young people to have a first experience singing in a small ensemble. Every voice is important, and young singers will have opportunities to sing solos, duets, and trios. Every class also incorporates age-appropriate lessons in music theory.

Schedule: Tuesdays 5:00-6:00pm starting 9/16/25
Total Classes: 34 meetings per school year

My First Music Class | for ages 3.5-5
In this class, children will explore music in a fun and engaging way while developing foundational skills. Through singing, movement, listening, and rhythm activities, kids will strengthen their listening, coordination, and focus. They will be introduced to basic musical concepts such as pitch, rhythm, and note reading in age-appropriate ways, laying a strong foundation for future instrumental learning. Students will also get to know different instruments and famous classical pieces, helping them connect music to stories and emotions.

Midweek Music | ages 3-6
Midweek Music is a weekly 30-minute virtual music class for 3-6 year olds. Through songs, games, puppets, and lots of interaction, children will learn the building blocks of musical literacy, such as pitch and rhythm, in a fun and natural way.

Piano Explorers! | ages 4-6
A hands-on class for young children who would like to have fun in a kinesthetic group class, emphasizing piano basics, movement, visual art, and singing as a catalyst to get the fingers working on the keyboard. Guest instruments could appear from time to time, such as Celtic harp; hand drums, to reinforce rhythms and steady beat in children, a piano basics skill; ukuleles; and Tibetan singing bowls. Learning about how these other instruments work gives a basis to the piano work as well. Parents are asked to join us!

Clarinet Choir
The adult clarinet choir explores a wealth of music for clarinet ensembles. Hone your musicianship and technique while making great music with clarinetists of varying backgrounds and experience in this intimate chamber music setting.

Adult Gamba Consort
Step into the rich musical world of the Renaissance era with the SPCM Viola da Gamba Consort class. This ensemble-based course is designed for viol players of intermediate and advanced levels who wish to explore the unique sound, technique, and repertoire of the viol consort.
Students will be broken into 3- or 4-part groups and spend half of each class working together as a group to develop their listening and self-coaching skills and the other half being coached by Maryne. This class will culminate in a public performance in collaboration with The Gregorian Singers in late October.

Adult Baroque Ensemble
Explore the elegance of the baroque in an ensemble course designed for adult enthusiasts! This course focuses on the art of rehearsing in an ensemble while capturing the techniques and styles found in baroque music. First-timers and all instruments welcome!

Adult Chamber Orchestra
Do you wish you could play in an orchestra but don’t quite have the confidence yet? Join the Adult Chamber Orchestra and build your experience and repertoire….and enjoy the camaraderie of others embarking on the same journey. Whether you’ve recently started playing or have been studying for several years, you are welcome here!

Adult Flute Ensemble
The Adult Flute Ensemble is a relaxed ensemble for intermediate and early advanced adult flute players. Ensemble members will expand their skill set in intonation, rhythm, and chamber communication in a supportive setting. Adult flute players from all walks are welcomed – you do not have to be currently taking lessons to join! Just getting back into playing after a few years off? Dust off the flute and join in on the fun! Have a low flute? Have a low flute sitting around? This is a great opportunity to play it in a chamber setting.
