Katherine Wilhelm is a Suzuki violin teacher and an active freelance violinist in the Twin Cities. A Suzuki student herself, she studied with Laura Gulley and Alexey Shabalin before relocating to Minnesota to attend St. Olaf College. At St. Olaf she was a member of the St. Olaf Orchestra for four years and toured nationally and internationally with the group. She studied violin with Charles Gray and played as much chamber music as possible. Upon graduating, Katherine decided to pursue her Suzuki certification and has taken teacher training courses from Nancy Lokken. She currently plays violin for the Old Log Theater In Excelsior, MN, the Metropolitan Symphony Orchestra, local Cuban ensemble Charanga Tropical, and in her own chamber ensembles. Katherine is passionate about the Suzuki method and early childhood music education, and she teaches and coaches chamber music around the Twin Cities.
